April VEF Participant Wins a Apple iPad mini

Posted April 24, 2014    Qui Cao

Every month we host our Vulnerability Expert Forum (VEF) webinar. This is a time where our experts share valuable insight regarding new vulnerabilities that are discovered and the actions that need to be taken as a result. It’s a quick way to get up to speed on current potential risks to your organization and a way to explore the impact that high-risk vulnerabilities and exploits have on network environments and infrastructures. BeyondTrust is committed to helping security administrators reduce the workload they face by making this information easily accessible and by clearly presenting all required information to our audience.

If you haven’t attended a VEF before, I encourage you to sign up and join our next one in May. Not only will you receive a complete analysis of recently announced critical vulnerabilities from Microsoft and other software vendors but you could potentially win a Apple iPad mini from us!

Our April winner, Wayne Ajimine, was awarded with a new iPad mini for participating in our discussion earlier this month. Here’s a little bit more about Wayne:

“Knowledge is power and provides ability fight the good security fight.  BeyondTrust VEF’s help provide that knowledge fuel.”

I’ve always worked in the technology field ever since finishing Tech School.  Spent over 21 years working at a POS company doing pretty much everything. I finally left that job and got my first real exposure to an Enterprise environment 7 years ago, managing firewall systems.  I’ve been working in Information Security only for the last 3 years.  So I’m still new at this but it has been a great and interesting challenge.

Again, congrats to Wayne and thank you to all for being continued supporters of BeyondTrust and security for all. Don’t forget to join us at our next VEF and you too could possibly take home a new iPad mini! Sign up here.

Best Practices for Managing Domain Admin Accounts

Posted August 3, 2015    Russell Smith

The risks of using privileged domain accounts on devices that are not secured to the same level as DCs increases the chances that domain administrator credentials could be exposed. Windows caches credentials by default to authenticate users when a domain controller can’t be reached, including those of domain administrator accounts that have previously logged in to a device. As such, a compromised workstation or member server can also lead to stolen domain administrator credentials.
